Top Ten Nutritional Myths, Distortions, and Lies That Will Destroy Your Heath.

USDA Food Guide Pyramid and FDA Recommended Daily Allowance
Carbohydrates = 60%, Fats = 30%, and Protein = 10%
Warning! This diet will cause many diseases when eaten for 20 years.

The professional dietary and medical advice given by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has been an utter failure. The USDA has published the official diet in the form of an icon called the USDA Food Guide Pyramid. The USFDA has published the official USFDA Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for carbohydrate, protein, and fat. However, therein lies a big flaw. Neither the Food Guide Pyramid nor the RDA is based on scientific facts. If you follow the Food Guide Pyramid as your daily nutritional guide, you will encounter many related degenerative diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, and many more. The USDA Food Guide Pyramid and FDA Recommended Daily Allowances are solely responsible for the current high incidence of adult onset Type II diabetes which has tripled in the last 30 years. Type II diabetes is becoming common among teenagers, who were once thought to be excluded from this "age related" disease. People with diabetes have a significantly increased risk of cancer. Now the USDA has the gall to tell us it was our fault for not exercising enough. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now. Exercise will not prevent the escalating health care crisis.
USDA - Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005.

The new 2005 USDA Food Guide Pyramid adds more confusion by having many different pyramids from which you must make a selection. This system will cause the current obesity, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease epidemics that were caused by the previous Food Guide Pyramid to become more severe.

The USFDA Nutritional Guidelines Are Not Scientific.

The list of medical theories and practices that were later proven to be false always includes the draining of the patient's blood as a method of healing. This past practice has now been easily proven to be very detrimental to the patient and caused a huge but unknown number of deaths. These patients had their blood drawn until they literally bled to death. The exact cause of US President George Washington's death in December, 1799, has been hotly debated. Washington had caught a cold or pneumonia after being caught in a winter storm while riding his horse at his Mount Vernon, Vermont estate that was acquired by his marriage to a rich widow, Martha Dandridge Custis. She was 27 years of age and he 26 at the time of their marriage. According to David Morens, MD, a National Institutes of Health epidemiologist who has written articles on the President's demise, a total of 80 ounces of blood was drained from the father of our country over a 12-hour period. The doctors hastened, contributed to, or caused his death by the bleeding that most likely led to shock.

The death of US President James A. Garfield in 1881 resulted from being shot with a pistol. He would have probably recovered had his team of Army doctors not treated him. Many people have recovered and healed very well with bullets lodged in the body.  In the end, the doctors managed to take a 3-inch wound and turn it into a twenty inch canal that was heavily infected and oozed more and more pus with each passing day because they probed the bullet wound with unwashed hands and dirty instruments. Medicine had rejected the theory of infection by bacteria even though bacteria had been discovered more than 200 years earlier. Antonie Philips van Leeuwenhoek, a Dutchman, was the first in 1676 - 1677 to record microscopic observations of bacteria and spermatozoa. Dutchman, Alexander Graham Bell brought his newly-invented metal detector to help find the bullet but it gave incorrect information which made matters worse. Mr. Bell didn't realize at the time that the metal in the President's mattress distorted the readings.

How Alexander Graham Bell helped kill the President.

At the present time, the American Medical Association (AMA) and the majority of physicians believe that eating fat, especially saturated animal fats, causes heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, and intestinal diseases. As in the past, this theory is upside-down and backwards. These diseases are caused by a high-carbohydrate diet deficient in protein and fats from animal products. Just as in the time of President George Washington, deaths caused by the errors of the medical profession and prescription drugs continue at an alarming rate and may actually be increasing. These deaths are just the tip of the iceberg compared to the errors and drugs that cause health problems just short of death.

Drugs and Doctors May be the Third Leading Cause of Death in U.S.

According to Dr. Joel D. Wallach, DVM, ND, in his book, Rare Earths - Forbidden Cures, the death rate in Los Angeles, California, in 1976 dropped approximately 30 percent during a seven-week doctor's strike. Two weeks after the strike ended the death rate doubled from the strike low. Read page 237 in his book.

Rare Earths -- Forbidden Cures by Dr. Joel D. Wallach, DVM, ND.

Nutritionists are consistently being guided and controlled by special interest groups with profit or religious motives. This unscientific approach to nutrition has lead to many conflicting conclusions about the optimum nutrition for humans. Nutritional research is commonly carried out in a very sloppy manner using program designs which the researcher knew in advance would achieve the biased result for which he is looking. This is the reason nutritional research arrives at opposite results and lacks repeatability. Lies, distortions, and fraud are also common in these studies. The result is a serious loss of confidence in the conclusions reached by any nutritional study. It is a great example of garbage in, garbage out.

These top ten historical events that created our current health and nutritional quagmire may have occurred with the good intensions of everyone involved without knowing the unintended consequences. Others may have had evil intentions behind their creation including profit, political, or religious motives without regard to the consequences. Their primary goal was much more important to them than the health of those who would suffer from these consequences. This atmosphere continues to this day as the driving force in our medical and nutritional fields. Coming forth with solid scientific, medical, and nutritional truths that don't agree with the politically correct nutritional dogma has been met with a barrage of criticism and threats as experienced by Dr. Robert C. Atkins for thirty years and William Banting from London, England, in the mid-nineteenth century.

Top Ten Nutritional Myths, Distortions, and Lies That Will Destroy Your Health.

Top Ten Historical Events That Created Our Current Health and Nutritional Quagmire.

Event No. 1 - The Industrial Revolution.

The Industrial Revolution is a double-edged sword. Modern machines can keep fresh meat, fowl, fish, seafood, and vegetables refrigerated or frozen for safe storage until ready to be eaten. These foods are available from distant lands in variety and abundance. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, animals were kept alive until they could be slaughtered and quickly sold to the consumer. A good example are the great cattle drives from Texas north during the nineteenth century. Even today animals in many countries are walked to the marketplace where they are slaughtered and quickly sold without any refrigeration.

The downside of the Industrial Revolution is the creation of "food" that is the output from a chemical plant. These foods are generally made from carbohydrate laden grains, but some are made from vegetable protein and vegetable fats. People from centuries ago would not recognize most of the products in our supermarkets today as being edible.

Another downside of the Industrial Revolution is the year-round availability of high-carbohydrate fruit that is normally highly perishable. Fruit was consumed in its season prior to the Industrial Revolution and did not present the health hazard we see today. The canning of fruit increased the unhealthy effects because sugar is generally added. This creates a can or bottle that has little nutritional value. It is basically all sugar in the form of sucrose and fructose.

It is a scientific fact that fructose sugar in fruit causes insulin resistance that increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and diabetes. See the following truthful study that proves fructose as found in abundance in fruit and fruit juice is one of the root causes for metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and Alzheimer's disease.

Hypothesis: fructose-induced hyperuricemia as a causal mechanism for the epidemic of the metabolic syndrome.

The Industrial Revolution is the master or macro historical event from which evolved many other highly unhealthy events that transformed natural, healthy food into disease-causing products consumed by unsuspecting people.

The following historical events that destroyed our food supply are listed chronologically and not by the magnitude of the harm done to our health.

Event No. 2 - The Flour Mill.

The grain grinding wheel was used to make flour for bread many centuries before the Industrial Revolution. Samson of the Bible was captured by the Philistines in the eleventh century B.C. after his lover, Delilah, cut off his hair that gave him his miraculous strength. He was bound into service turning a grinding mill in the prison. These grinding mills were commonly powered by animals, prisoners, or slaves. Grinding mills were later powered by water in the Roman Empire and by wind in Holland. The Industrial Revolution improved the design of water-wheel powered grinding mills and adapted the steam engine to turn the mills. These advancements made the grinding mill a very common piece of machinery that could be set up any place, thus increasing the consumption of grains in the diet.

Grains have always been problematic as a food source for human consumption. The ancient Egyptians had a high level of grains in the diet and suffered all of the same diseases we see in our modern high grain diets. The symptoms for diabetes and heart disease are described in their writings. Their mummified bodies are available to us for medical examination and show serious health problems including osteoporosis (degeneration of the spine) and highly decayed teeth. Joseph of the Bible was elevated by the Pharaoh to manage the Egyptian economy and stored large quantities of grains as a hedge against a draught that was to come. The Nile River Delta provided an exceedingly abundant supply of grains.

Grains cause many health problems in humans. Many people are gluten intolerant without knowing the cause of their health problems. High gluten grains are eaten because they make the bread rise more. This gives a better appearance and a softer texture. The proteins in grains cause autoimmune reactions and disease when they cross into the bloodstream as a result of leaky gut syndrome. The grains feed intestinal bacteria and yeast which promote the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria in the colon. This causes leaky gut syndrome and a vicious cycle of many serious diseases. Grains are not the wonderful food that manufacturers try to lead us to believe. Grains also have very little fats and protein which leads to deficiencies of these essential compounds. The high level of carbohydrates provide empty calories that make people obese and unhealthy. Whole grains and refined grains make delicious breads, pastries, and desserts, but they are disease promoting.
Bowel Diseases and Candida - News You Can Use.

Today's extensive milling and processing of grains has greatly increased carbohydrates in the diet of all English-speaking countries, and grains are one of the major factors in the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, intestinal diseases, osteoporosis, and numerous autoimmune diseases. Current grain processing plants are not simply grain mills but are more typical of a chemical plant that produces hundreds of products from grains.

Carbohydrates cause Alzheimer's disease in mice studies.

A high fat, low carbohydrate diet improves Alzheimer's disease in mice.

"Mice with the mouse model of Alzheimer's disease show improvements in their condition when treated with a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. A report published today in the peer-reviewed, open access journal Nutrition and Metabolism, showed that a brain protein, amyloid-beta, which is an indicator of Alzheimer's disease, is reduced in mice on the so-called ketogenic diet."

"The report, by Samuel Henderson, from Accera, Inc, Colorado and colleagues from Belgium runs counter to previous studies suggesting a negative effect of fat on Alzheimer's disease."

Event No. 3 - Refined Sucrose Sugar.

Sucrose sugar became an instant success and highly-desired sweetener by everyone who ate it. It was first considered to be a spice which tasted like honey but came from plants instead of bees. The sucrose molecule is comprised of one glucose sugar molecule and one fructose sugar molecule.

"The discovery of sugarcane, from which sugar, as it is known today, is derived, dates back unknown thousands of years. It is thought to have originated in New Guinea, and was spread along routes to Southeast Asia and India. The process known for creating sugar, by pressing out the juice and then boiling it into crystals, was developed in India around 500 BC."

"Its cultivation was not introduced into Europe until the middle-ages, when it was brought to Spain by Arabs. Columbus took the plant, dearly held, to the West Indies, where it began to thrive in a most favorable climate."

"It was not until the eighteenth century that sugarcane cultivation was began in the United States, where it was planted in the southern climate of New Orleans. The very first refinery was built in New York City around 1690; the industry was established by the 1830s. Earlier attempts to create a successful industry in the U.S. did not fare well; from the late 1830s, when the first factory was built, until 1872, sugar factories closed down almost as quickly as they had opened. It was 1872 before a factory, built in California, was finally able to successfully produce sugar in a profitable manner. At the end of that century, more than thirty factories were in operation in the U.S."
The History of Sugar.

However, sugar is not the sweet, wholesome food it appears to be. Sugar is one of the most unhealthy and highly addictive foods one could possibly eat. Eating sugar is worse for the health than smoking cigarettes. All societies which have begun ingesting high quantities of sugar have suffered as a result. It is possible that court rulings of the future will classify sugar as the cause for many diseases and will impose restrictions and assess punitive damages. Sugar is following in the same footsteps as cigarettes.

78 Ways Sugar Can Ruin Your Health - One of Which is Bone Loss.

Fruit and fruit juices are not much better for one's health than refined sugars. Yes, they have vitamins and minerals, but these can easily be obtained in the diet from low-carbohydrate foods like non-starchy vegetables and meat, fish, and fowl. Orange, cherry, and grape juices contain a high concentration of fructose which reacts in the body the same as high-fructose corn syrup sweetener. Many of the commercial juices are watered down with high-fructose corn syrup and sucrose sugar being added. These could best be described as sugar water drinks with fruit flavoring. The gullible consumer has been brainwashed into believing the fructose in fruit is more healthy than fructose in sugar.

Brainwashing and Other Mental and Personality Disorders.

Fructose has been proven to cause insulin resistance, which is the predecessor to the onslaught of Type 2 diabetes. Researchers have known for decades that feeding rodents high-fructose corn syrup will cause insulin resistance. They use this procedure to prepare the animals for accelerated diabetes research.

Event No. 4 - Ancel Keys and the Low-Fat Diet-Heart Hypothesis.

Ancel Keys was a University of Minnesota physiologist who was very influential in promoting the false idea that dietary saturated animal fats caused heart disease. He also effectively promoted the false theory first proposed by British surgeon Dr. Dennis Burkitt that the high-fiber diet was healthy. Ancel Keys' unsubstantiated dietary theories have probably caused more deaths worldwide than Russia's Joseph Stalin and Germany's Adolph Hitler combined.

Ancel Keys was a political dietitian. He skipped over the true science and faked the results from his "scientific studies." He was a bought man. His funding and grants came from the sugar and cereal industries, both of which are low-fat products, and cereal is a high-fiber product. He effectively changed the diet of the world, especially in all English-speaking countries. The death rates from heart disease and cancer have soared since Ancel Keys successfully brainwashed the world with his unsubstantiated dietary ideas. Obesity and diabetes have become epidemic on his low-fat, high-fiber diet with no end in sight to the upward-spiraling statistics. Obesity and heart disease were both quite rare before the world heard of Ancel Keys. His diet recommendations also promoted many autoimmune diseases that typically result in years of suffering for those people who have rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and twenty other diseases.

Event No. 5 - Ball Canning Jars and Fresh Fruit.

The five Ball brothers founded the Wooden Jacket Can Company in 1880, making wooden-jacketed tin cans for paints and other products. In 1884, the renamed Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company began manufacturing yet another new product -- the glass-lined tin home canning jar, which would one day make Ball a household name. Ball acquired the first of several small glass companies in 1898 to begin making glass-blown canning jars and printed the first Ball Blue Book featuring home canning recipes and techniques in 1909.

Ball jars became highly popular for home canning of jams, jellies, and fruit. The canning process was very easy and cost only a few cents per quart. Fruit like peaches or apricots were blanched in hot water, peeled, cut in half, pitted, and place in a quart jar. About 1-1/2 cups of syrup containing two parts water and one part refined white sugar were added. A new seal top was placed on the jar and secured by tightening a screw-on reusable top ring. The jars were placed in a hot water canning steamer or pressure cooker. The slightly domed lid confirmed when the jar had lost its vacuum during storage and should not be eaten. Jams and jellies are made by heating a ratio of 2 cups of fruit with 1 1/2 cups of sugar. The mixture is smashed or juiced as desired, placed in the Ball jar and run through the canning process. The sugar content in the preserved product is very high.

The resulting preserved fruit has very little food value and is essentially composed of sugars from the fructose and sucrose. The consumption of sugar skyrocketed as a result of the invention of home canning jars and paralleled the sharp rise in diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and intestinal diseases. The obesity epidemic had begun.

Canned fruit was also used as the filling for homemade pies. The crust was made with refined white flour, refined white sugar, and trans fat hydrogenated vegetable shortening. Crisco was the most popular brand for these factory-made chemical fats. The resulting dessert is very delicious to the taste, but the grains, sugars, and trans fats together form "The Deadly Food Pie."

Fresh fruit is worshipped by many diet gurus as the most wholesome food one can eat and is normally recommended more strongly than whole grains. High-carbohydrate diet gurus and official US government information sources never criticize fruit. We are constantly hearing recommendations to eat lots of fruit and vegetables to achieve optimum health. Reports are regularly being released which quote new studies claiming fruit prevents many illnesses. Orange juice is claimed to reduce elevated blood pressure. Other fruits are given credit for reducing cancer or heart disease. All of these claims are myths, distortions, and lies. Fruit is basically Nature's Candy. Fruit is concentrated fructose sugar. Fruit is all carbohydrates and contains no proteins or fats. Addiction to high-sugar fruit is a serious problem among adults and children. A study of the shopping carts of adults and the eating habits of children easily proves this unhealthy addiction in all age groups is real.

The few healthy vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants found in fruit are praised to the heavens. Some fruit worshippers, called fruitarians, have attempted to live on a fruit-only diet but immediately find their health crashes. Fruit has no essential amino acids and no essential fats necessary for life. Fruitarians must be plain stupid.

The main problem with fruit is the quantity eaten by many people. A little fruit goes a long way and should be severely restricted for a healthy diet. Having fruit available in the refrigerator and supermarket 24 hours a day and 365 days a year is strictly contrary to the diet on which mankind has existed for many thousands of years. Today fruit is delivered to the supermarket from all continents of the Earth. Only 100 years ago fruit was strictly a seasonal food at best and not available at all in many civilizations who thrived in excellent health. Fruit does not grow in northern climates, at higher altitudes, or in many arid regions of the Earth. Much of the fruit in past years was not like the hybrid fruit varieties available today. Most of the natural fruit of the past was low in fructose and sour to the taste. Sweet fruit like grapes were turned into wine because all fruit is extremely perishable. Today's hybrid fruit has been created in the laboratory to have the highest sugar content possible to attract the addictive sweet tooth of the general public. The trend continues to create an ever increasing sweetness by genetically modifying the hybrid varieties.

Fructose has been proven in laboratory experiments to cause insulin resistance which leads to diabetes and higher rates of heart disease, cancer, and intestinal diseases. Fruit is a very unhealthy food. Dr. Richard K. Bernstein says in his book he has not eaten fruit in 25 years, and this has made his health better.

Event No. 6 - Coca-Cola and Soft Drinks.

The carbonated sugar drink we now call a soda or soft drink originated as a soda fountain beverage called Coca-Cola in 1886, selling for five cents a glass, which was a high price at the time equal to nearly one hour of wages for an unskilled laborer. The carbonation has no positive or negative health effect, but the high level of sugar is a serious health problem. Coca-Cola was a huge success, and the refined sugar sweetener had become very plentiful at a low price. People quickly became "hooked" on the refreshing drink. Carbohydrates are highly addictive, and many people have lived their entire lives with an insulin rush from excessive glucose intake. Insulin is the body's most powerful hormone and makes resisting carbohydrates extremely difficult. Many would rather be sick than give up their sugar soft drinks and fruit with high levels of fructose, the second most addictive carbohydrate. To be healthy one must break these addictions.
Economic History Resources - What is its Relative Value?

Other foods also contained the new refined sugar, but Coca-Cola was available throughout the day and consumed between meals. Most other high-sugar foods were served as desserts and considered a treat to be consumed in limitation.

The second major development for cola soft drinks was the replacement of sucrose sugar with high-fructose corn syrup as the sweetener. Sucrose sugar is half glucose and half fructose, but high-fructose corn syrup is entirely fructose. This conversion has made the products even more unhealthy. Diet carbonated soft drinks were a major improvement by the elimination of sucrose and fructose, but the artificial sweeteners that have replaced these sugars have suspicious health properties of their own.

Event No. 7 - The Steel Reinforced Concrete Grain Storage Silo.

The first steel reinforced concrete grain storage silo was installed in 1900 and was an immediate success. The grains could be stored throughout the winter and reclaimed during the off-season in perfect condition. The grain was kept dry and protected from rodents. These grain storage silos were installed on the great plains of the United States close to the harvesting areas. They now appear as clusters of huge concrete structures towering on the horizon.

The grain storage silo reduced the overall cost of grain products and increased their consumption. The health of a society declines in direct proportion to the amount of grain eaten by its people. The more refined the grain, the more damage is done to the health. Grain production has now become completely mechanized, from planting the seed on the farm, to placing bread in the packages for sale.

Event No. 8 - Vegetarians Sylvester Graham, Mrs. Ellen G. White, and the Kellogg Brothers.

Sylvester Graham was a religious, vegetarian nut who didn't have a clue about human nutritional requirements, yet he gathered thousands of zealous followers. He invented graham flour and the graham cracker in 1829 that switched children from a healthy diet of animal protein and animal fats to one of unhealthy carbohydrates. Modern-day Graham crackers would make Mr. Graham turn over in his grave. Although his cracker was very unhealthy, it did not contain the high level of sugar the deadly hydrogenated fats as found today.

Mr. Graham's erroneous teaching influenced other vegetarians like the Kellogg brothers who followed in his footsteps. Graham preached against sexual desire that he referred to variously as "venereal excess" or "aching sensibility" and claimed his graham products would cure these "dire physiological" problems. His diet certainly worked for him. His sexual desire declined to zero by age 56. Mr. Graham died in 1851 at the young age of 56 because of his faulty diet. Reverend Graham was also a Presbyterian minister who preached the false doctrines of John Calvin. Basically, almost everything Mr. Graham believed and taught was wrong.
Calvinism False Doctrines, Depravity, Election, Atonement, Irresistible Grace.

Mrs. Ellen G. White was the founder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She announced in 1864 that she had a spiritual vision against the eating of meat and butter. Others accused her of copying the vegetarian diet philosophy of Dr. J. C. Jackson, but she denied it in church papers. Her denial does not appear to be credible. She obviously got her vegetarian diet plan from Dr. Jackson's book that she had in the house and not from Holy revelation. The vegetarian diet is a violation of the Holy Scriptures of the Bible. Dr. Jackson also invented the first cereal made from grains which he called "granula" as a substitute for meat and eggs in the diet. Many people credit the Kellogg brothers as the inventors of cereal, but their discovery was making the cereal into flakes.

"I did not know that such a paper existed as The Laws of Life, published at Dansville, N.Y. I had not heard of the several works upon health, written by Dr. J. C. Jackson, and other publications at Dansville, at the time I had the view named above. I did not know that such works existed until September, 1863, when in Boston, Mass., my husband saw them advertised in a periodical called the Voice of the Prophets, published by Eld. J. V. Himes. My husband ordered the works from Dansville and received them at Topsham, Maine. His business gave him no time to peruse them, and as I determined not to read them until I had written out my views, the books remained in their wrappers."
Mrs. White's Health Visions: Was it God? Or Dr. Jackson?

In 1869 Mrs. White made a public pledge to refrain from eating meat, but years later Mrs. White personally wrote many times about her eating deer, duck, oysters, herrings, chickens, and eggs after her vision and recommendation to her followers to avoid such foods. In 1894 Mrs. White again made a public pledge against eating animal products. She died in 1915.

"I suppose you will be interested to know how we spent Christmas. Christmas morning we all took breakfast together--James Cornell; Florence and Clara, their two girls; Brother and Sister Moore and their three children; Sister Bahler and Etta, a girl living with them; and Sister Daniells, our cook, Father, and myself. We had a quarter of venison cooked, and stuffing. It was as tender as a chicken. We all enjoyed it very much. There is plenty of venison in market." (Manuscript Releases Vol. 14, p. 318-319, written December 26, 1878, from Denison, Texas, to "Dear Family at Battle Creek--Willie, Mary, Aunt Mary, Edith, Addie and May, and Brother and Sister Sawyer.")
Oysters and Herrings - Did Mrs. White Practice what she Preached on Diet?

Cheating on the vegetarian diet is more commonplace than unusual. Vegetarians are typically "trying to cut back on meat" while they suffer a guilt complex for eating it. Apparently, the guilt is sufficient suffering for them to continue to indulge in a food they falsely swear is unhealthy and turns putrid in the body.

John Harvey Kellogg was a young man in Mrs. White's Church and received financial support from her for his medical education. He became a doctor and manager of the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, USA. He became a world-renowned physician, surgeon, and health reformer. He was the inventor of protose (a meat substitute which is currently made from nuts, beans, cornstarch, and seasonings) and other meat substitutes. In addition, he was a prolific writer who published more than fifty books.

"Shortly after the turn of the century Dr. Kellogg came into conflict with the leaders of the General Conference over his attempt to get the control of all SDA medical institutions with which he had been associated. He finally did succeed in getting control of the Battle Creek Sanitarium, the Battle Creek Food Company, and the health institution in Mexico. He also began teaching strange doctrines. His book The Living Temple was permeated with the principles of pantheism. Everything was done to help him see his error. Ellen G. White worked with him personally and sent him many messages, but in vain. In 1907 he lost his membership in the church. Only a few intimate friends followed him." (SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 10, art. Kellogg, John Harvey, p. 723. Emphasis supplied.)
Pantheism and the "Alpha of Apostasy."

"William Kellogg's accidental discovery of cereal in 1894 marked the beginning of a multi-national food empire. While experimenting with different food production techniques at the Battle Creek Sanatorium in Michigan, William and his brother, Dr. Kellogg, decided to run boiled wheat dough through rollers which enabled them to produce thin sheets of wheat. After a sudden interruption in their laboratory activities left cooked wheat exposed to the air for more than a day, the Kellogg brothers decided to run the wheat through the rollers despite the fact it was no longer fresh. To their amazement, instead of a single, large sheet of wheat, the rollers discharged a single flake for each wheat berry -- cereal flakes were born."

"Prompted by William Kellogg’s belief that diet played an important role in a healthy lifestyle and that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, he spent the next eight years further developing the newly invented cereal, culminating in its first production in 1906. That same year, in order to increase awareness of the revolutionary product, W. K. bought a full-page ad in the July issue of the Ladies’ Home Journal. As a result, sales leapt from 33 cases to 2,900 cases per day."
Kellogg's: How It All Began.

Modern-day grain cereals made by Kellogg's and other companies contain a very high percentage of sugars. Some formulas list sugar as the leading ingredient on the package. Other blends may list a grain first but also list several different sugars such as sucrose, fructose, and high-fructose corn syrup. These products could best be described as grain-flavored sugar. They sometimes contain hydrogenated vegetable or seed oil (trans fats) as described below.

Mrs. White and her Seventh-Day Adventist Church would have had little effect on nutrition and health of a nation because of the small size of the organization had it not been for Dr. Kellogg. He went on to found the giant Kellogg's food manufacturing company that specializes in breakfast grain cereals. His efforts resulted in the entire English-speaking world switching from meat and eggs for breakfast to grain cereals. The meat and egg breakfast was composed of protein and fat with no carbohydrates, while the grain cereal breakfast was composed of nearly all carbohydrates with very little protein and fat. Prior to the advent of grain cereals in 1900, the heart disease rate was very near zero with virtually no mention in medical books and journals of anyone having a heart attack. After the advent of grain cereals and the refined sugar commonly used to sweeten the meal, the heart attack rate soared. The switch to the high-carbohydrate diet was in full effect. Dr. Kellogg was certainly a health reformer. His diet philosophies have led to early diseases and early deaths of millions of people.

Breakfast grain cereals cost approximately $4.00 per pound at supermarkets in the USA, but the grain used to make the cereal only costs 4 cents per pound. The grain raw material is only one percent of the cost of cereal, and the other 99 percent is manufacturing cost, packaging cost, distribution cost, and profit. The package cost is undoubtedly much more expensive than the cost of the grain to make the cereal. This is why breakfast cereals are so heavily advertised on children's TV programs. Children whine and cry in the supermarket when they see the cartoon characters on the box that they remember from the clever TV advertisements, and Mommy simply throws it in the shopping cart to keep them quiet. The result is a child obesity epidemic.

'Cereals don't deserve to be called food.'

The vegetarians of Southern India eat a low-calorie diet very high in carbohydrates and low in protein and fat. They have the shortest life span of any society on Earth, and their bodies have an extremely low muscle mass. They are weak and frail, and the children clearly exhibit a failure to thrive. Their heart disease rate is double that of the meat eaters in Northern India. HL Abrams. Vegetarianism: An anthropological/nutritional evaluation. Event No. 9 - Hydrogenation of Vegetable and Seed Oils.

Vegetable and seed oils are primarily comprised of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. These oils are liquid at room temperature and can easily become rancid because of their unsaturation. These oils have vacant bonds in their makeup of carbon and hydrogen atoms which allow an undesirable bonding site for other atoms or molecules. Saturated fats have all of the carbon sites bonded to a hydrogen atom, which makes the fat inert against other atoms or molecules. This gives the saturated fatty acids chemical stability and also causes them to be solid at room temperatures.

In 1911 the discovery was made that hydrogen atoms could be forced to attach to the unsaturated vegetable and seed oils by applying pressure and heat in a vessel were hydrogen was percolated through the oil. The result was not a true saturated fat but a product called "trans fat." This fat has many of the characteristics of saturated natural fat but is a foreign molecule to the body. Trans fats are chemical lipids not food found in nature. This process produced a product that could be substituted for saturated fat in food products but cost much less. Greedy food producers began using trans fats in food products without regard to their health effects. We now know these factory-made chemical fats are very unhealthy and damage the cells of the body, resulting in many diseases.

Trans fat manufacturers attacked animal natural fats with lies and distortions in order to promote their chemical fats. As usual, the gullible public bought the lies hook, line, and sinker. Animal rights advocates and vegetarians jumped on the bandwagon because they promote any lie or distortion ever conceived in their attempts to slow the general consumption of animal products. The lies are almost limitless.

Linoleic fatty acid is a precursor for arachidonic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid, which is a precursor for the prostaglandin E2 series (PGE2). PGE2 reduces the ability of macrophages and natural killer (NK) cells to kill cancer cells and tumors. Omega-6 fatty acids are found in abundance in grains, nuts, and seeds. These foods should be strictly avoided. Healthy nuts are pine nuts and macadamia nuts that are low in omega-6 fatty acids.

The edible oil industry produces omega-6 polyunsaturated vegetable, seed, and grain oils such as corn oil, soybean oil, Canola oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, and cottonseed oil. These oils are highly suspect as one of the leading causes of heart disease and cancer, both of which increased in concert with increases of omega-6 fatty acids in the diet. Omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory and proven to cause or contribute to a long list of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and many others.

Postmenopausal breast cancer is associated with high intakes of omega-6 fatty acids (Sweden).

"RESULTS: Saturated fat and the omega3-omega6 fatty acid ratio were not related to increased risks, but positive trends were seen for total (p = 0.031), monounsaturated (p = 0.002), and polyunsaturated fat (p = 0.0009), especially omega6 fatty acids and the polyunsaturated-saturated fat ratio (p = 0.004). With mutual adjustment for different types of fat, an elevated risk remained significant in the highest omega6 fatty acid quintile (RR= 2.08, 95% CI 1.08-4.01)."

The above study proves that saturated fats and omega-3 fats as found in red meat and fish were not associated with an elevated risk for breast cancer in postmenopausal women, but monounsaturated omega-9 fats as found in olive oil and polyunsaturated omega-6 fats as found in grains, seeds, and nuts increase the risk of breast cancer, especially omega-6 fats as found in grains, seeds, and nuts. These excellent results are just the opposite to the myths, distortions, and lies promoted by vegetarians and manufacturers of high-carbohydrate foods. Beef, lamb, and pork with saturated fats are very healthy foods.

The edible oil industry also produces hydrogenated forms of these oils, which make them more saturated. These hydrogenated oil are known by their opponents as the "deadly trans fats."
Secrets of the Edible Oil Industry.

Natural saturated fats don't cause heart disease or cancer and never did. It has all been a big fat lie.

Event No. 10 - The Grain Drill and Combine Harvester.

One normally does not think of the grain drill used for planting grains or the combine harvesting and threshing machine as having any detrimental impact on human health. This would be a correct assumption if grains were a healthy farm product, but they are not. The case against grains and refined grain products is gaining momentum on a daily basis. The grain drill and combine harvester are closely tied to the grain flour mill. These machines created a surge in the consumption of grain products and greatly reduced their prices. The reduced price of grain products displaces healthy foods like meat, fish, fowl, seafood, and vegetables by purchasers who are more price conscious than health conscious. The constant barrage of false health and nutritional information by special interest groups continues to deceive the purchaser into thinking grain products are a healthy choice.

On July 15, 1929, Toronto inventor Thomas Carroll demonstrated the combine harvester near Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. His self-propelled model was built in 1937 and demonstrated in 1938.

Event No. 11 - Nathan Pritikin and Senator George McGovern.

Nathan Pritikin developed a low-fat, low-protein, and high-complex carbohydrate diet in the 1970s due to his obesity and clogged arteries. His program required a very low-calorie diet and was strictly against the use of any vitamin, minerals, or other supplements. He reversed both of these conditions but died of suicide at the age of 60 years after battling leukemia, cancer of the bone marrow. Studies have now shown that his low-fat, low-protein diet causes cancer. He was warned by others that his diet had less vitamin E than minimum standards. It was also deficient in essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. His book was titled Permanent Weight-Loss Manual, and indeed he had a permanent weight loss, 100%. Patients at his Centre for Longevity who followed the diet and didn't cheat also suffered a multitude of other medical problems. His chief nutritionist was Ann Louise Gittleman.

Nathan Pritikin's diet program did result in low cholesterol, but new studies have shown that a person with low cholesterol has an increased risk of committing suicide. Perhaps his low cholesterol as well as his leukemia contributed to his death by suicide.
Feeding The Irrational Fear of Cholesterol by Owen Richard Fonorow.
Professor P. T. Pappas’ Theory of Cancer.

Senator George McGovern attended the Pritikin clinic and was sold on the diet as the foundation for human nutrition. Upon returning to Washington, D.C., Senator McGovern used the Senate committee he headed to investigate and recommend changes in nutrition. He was very biased, and scientists, physicians, and nutritionists who were opposed to the high-carbohydrate, low-fat, low-cholesterol diet were blocked from testifying before the committee. The plan was passed to other US government agencies and became known as our present day USDA Food Guide Pyramid with absolutely no hard scientific evidence to support it. The last 30 years have proven the plan to be a hazard to one's health and should never be followed by anyone. The United States government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants trying unsuccessfully to prove that saturated fat causes heart disease, only to find that those who ate the most saturated fat are the most active and healthy. Some fraudulent studies exist condemning saturated fat, but the real villain in the diet was ignored -- carbohydrates.

The Low-Fat Diet Has Been a Deadly Experiment.

The high-carbohydrate, low-fat Food Guide Pyramid can be directly blamed on the trio of Nathan Pritikin, Ann Louise Gittleman, and Senator George McGovern. The human pain, misery, disease, early death, and financial cost to societies around the world caused by Nathan Pritikin, Ann Louise Gittleman, and Senator George McGovern's campaign against animal protein and animal fats are beyond measure, and the climax to this dilemma is still years into the future. Millions of people in English-speaking countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia have died an early death from the complication of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and the complication of inflammatory bowel diseases as a result, yet Senator McGovern's campaign did not even warrant a line item description in the national budget. It became the official government diet recommendation with the hardy support of all the food manufacturers that turn carbohydrates and trans fats into stuff they call food.

Ann Louise Gittleman appeared to reverse her disastrous nutritional philosophy after Nathan Pritikin developed cancer and committed suicide. She described the Pritikin Diet failures in her book, Beyond Pritikin and switched away from the low-carbohydrate diet in her book, Eat Fat, Lose Fat. However, her philosophy has now reverted back to the high-carbohydrate diet. In her new book, The Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet, she attacks the low-carbohydrate diet viciously and has made many erroneous statements about the low-carbohydrate diet.

The USFDA Nutritional Guidelines Are Not Scientific.

Many people think the Atkins’ low-carbohydrate diet is lacking essential nutrients because it doesn't match the results of the Food Guide Pyramid. Their reference is the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) Nutritional Guide for Daily Values (DV) as shown on all nutrition labels. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Guide Pyramid was developed by vegetarians with an agenda. Nathan Pritikin and Senator George McGovern were the perpetrators. There is no science behind the Food Guide Pyramid. It was a scam from the beginning -- a make-believe nutritional plan to limit the consumption of animal products. The results have been rampant heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, intestinal diseases, and a medical handbook full of other ailments. The USFDA Nutritional Guide is based on the Food Guide Pyramid. This is easy to prove. Simply go to a food count book or http://www.fitday.com and enter a 2000-calorie diet exactly according to the pyramid. The results will show every nutritional requirement to be perfectly achieved. It’s all a scam. There is no hard science behind the establishment of the USFDA daily nutritional requirements.

The health care industries are about to enter a "melt down" as health costs skyrocket from the onslaught of sickness brought on by the constant plea to "reduce the consumption of red meat and saturated fat." The 20 to 30-year delays in the onset of disease have begun to attack the "baby boomers." More and more people are unable to afford healthcare insurance. Companies are dumping more and more of the healthcare benefits back onto the employee. Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) are increasing rates at a pace three to five times the rate of inflation, but they still struggle to make a profit. Government health plans are heading for financial bankruptcy. Governments are frozen in their current policies unable to reverse direction or fight the power of the food manufacturing lobby. The healthcare crisis is still gathering momentum.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing companies are turning out new drugs and new machines which mainly serve to cover up the symptoms for a short duration. These new products serve only to dump increased cost into the failing system.

Bonus Event No. 12 - Soybean Revolution & GMO Foods.

Where grains became the major replacement for meat and fats in the diet, soy protein has become the vegetarian food of choice to replace the meat protein. The animal natural fats had already been replaced by trans fats. In place of fatty meats vegetarians are now purchasing grain products bulked up with soy protein and held together by trans fats. Naturally, every package says "low-fat and low-cholesterol," leading the unsuspecting shopper to believe these factory-made conglomerations of chemicals are healthy food. Even products thought to be healthy choices such as Hebrew National hotdogs are bulked up with hydrolized soy protein.

Unfermented soy products contain enzyme inhibitors and unhealthy phytates that are not deactivated by cooking.  Phytic acid combines with minerals in the intestines and prevents absorption. Soy products contribute to many health problems. Soy products are full of unhealthy isoflavones, the mega-doses of phytoestrogens that disrupt normal sex hormone functions, cause hypothyroidism, and disrupt endocrine functions.

Soy Online Service
Presents the facts about the unhealthy dangers of eating soy.

Soybean plants are the most genetically modified organism (GMO) in the United States food supply. As of January, 2006, the percentage of soybeans that have been genetically modified is estimated to be 75% and spreading fast. Virtually all products on supermarket shelves that contain any soy or soy protein have all been contaminated. Just because a soy product is labeled "organic" does not mean it is GMO free. Vegetarians gorge themselves on soy products such as soy milk and soy burgers. Vegetarian foods such as breads, bagels, cereals, crackers, pastas, and energy drinks have all been fortified with soy protein made from GMO-contaminated soybeans.

Anthropological Research Reveals Human Dietary Requirements for Optimal Health
by H. Leon Abrams, Jr., MA, EDS

"Michael DeBakey, world renowned heart surgeon from Houston, who has devoted extensive research into the cholesterol coronary disease theory, states that out of every ten people in the United States who have atherosclerotic heart disease, only three or four of these ten have high cholesterol levels; this is approximately the identical rate of elevated cholesterol found in the general population. (10) His comment: “If you say cholesterol is the cause, how do you explain the other 60 percent to 70 percent with heart disease who don’t have a high cholesterol?” In 1964 DeBakey made an analysis of cholesterol levels from usual hospital laboratory testing of 1,700 patients with atherosclerotic disease and found there was no positive or definitive relationship or correlation between serum cholesterol levels and the extent or nature of atherosclerotic disease."

Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes

This is a must-read book. Gary Taubes is an award-winning scientist who has specialized in exposing misleading, incorrect, or fraudulent science. His seven-year research in every science connected with the impact of nutrition on health shows us that almost everything we believe about the nature of a healthy diet is wrong. For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates are better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet with more and more people acting on the advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes.

Taubes argues persuasively that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates (white flour, sugar, easily digested starches) via their dramatic effect on insulin -- the hormone that regulates fat accumulation -- and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number. There are good and bad calories. Taubes traces how the common assumption that carbohydrates are fattening was abandoned in the 1960s when fat and cholesterol were blamed for heart disease and then -- wrongly -- were seen as the causes of a host of other maladies, including cancer. He shows us how these unproven hypotheses were emphatically embraced by authorities in nutrition, public health, and clinical medicine in spite of how well-conceived clinical trials have consistently refuted them. He also documents the dietary trials of carbohydrate restriction which consistently show that the fewer carbohydrates we consume the leaner we will be.

With precise references to the most significant existing clinical studies, he convinces us that there is no compelling scientific evidence demonstrating that saturated fat and cholesterol cause heart disease; that salt causes high blood pressure; and that fiber is a necessary part of a healthy diet. Based on the evidence that does exist, he leads us to conclude that the only healthy way to lose weight and remain lean is to eat fewer carbohydrates or to change the type of carbohydrates we do eat and, for some of us, perhaps to eat virtually none at all.

Life Without Bread: How a Low-Carbohydrate Diet Can Save Your Life

Life Without Bread is an important addition to the growing body of literature on the benefits and importance of low-carb diet. Written by Christian Allan, Ph.D., and Wolfgang Lutz, M.D., the book is based on Dr. Lutz's experience using carbohydrate restricted diets with thousands of patients for more than 40 years. It is based on extensive research in the medical and scientific literature and provides ample references. The book presents a unified theory of how high (and even moderate) levels of dietary carbohydrate cause or exacerbate various health problems and how carbohydrate restriction can help people to recover from those problems.

The book Life Without Bread by Christian Allan, Ph.D. and Wolfgang Lutz, M.D. has a chapter on gastrointestinal diseases. Don't be mislead by the title to believe the cure is the simple elimination of bread. Mr. Lutz's older book is out of print but has essentially the same information. It may even contain more detail than his new book above. Fortunately, Chapter VII: Gastro-Intestinal Tract of the older book can be read online.
