What is Polymyalgia Rheumatica?

"Polymyalgia is a form of arthritis that causes pain in the muscles of the lower back, thighs, hips, neck, shoulder and upper arms, as well as in other parts of the body. The word comes from the Greek poly (many), myo (muscle) and algia (pain). It happens when the membrane that surrounds joints, bursa and tendons near the shoulders and hips (called the synovium) becomes inflamed. Although the disease is centered on the joints (especially the shoulders and hips), the discomfort is felt in the upper arms and thighs. This type of pain is called referred pain because it arises in one area but causes symptoms in another."

"Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS; CFIDS; M.E.) is a disorder characterized by extreme exhaustion, muscle pain, cognitive problems and a number of other physical symptoms. The similarities in symptoms and research findings between CFS and Fibromyalgia (FMS; FM) have led many researchers and clinicians to link the two syndromes, although others believe them to be quite distinct. Current thinking is that CFS probably begins with a genetic predisposition, and is triggered by exposure to a number of possible stressors - including viruses, bacteria such as mycoplasma, allergies, chemical toxins and other physical and emotional stressors. Once triggered, CFS appears to involve dysfunctions of both the immune system and neuroendocrine system (which regulates interaction between the nervous system and the hormones of the endocrine glands)."

The excessive carbohydrate diet in combination with protein and fat deficiencies causes a condition known as "leaky gut syndrome" where vegetable protein molecules from grains, corn, soy and legumes pass through the intestinal barrier and enter the blood stream. The body's immune system sees these molecules as invaders and sets about to attack them. A contributing factor causing chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia is adrenal gland exhaustion. This occurs in the cycle between hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and diabetes (high blood sugar). Increase the exercises each week as the pain is reduced.

Buy DHEA over the counter in 5 mg tablet size. Be careful of the 25 to 50 mg suggested in the article below. You could take 25 mg per day for a few weeks at the beginning before cutting back. Continued use at 25 mg per day requires saliva hormone tests to determine the correct dosage.

No. 8 Sleep and Depression

Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers commonly have a sleep disorder and depression. You must work hard to overcome this sleep disorder because the deep level stage 4 sleep is most critical to healing. Go to bed at 10:00 P.M. with everything quiet and the room darkened.
