GRACE

DESCRIPTIONS OF GOD'S GRACE

The gospel of grace:

EPHESIANS 2:1-9 And you [He] [made] [alive], who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in the heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it] [is] the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

ROMANS 11:6 And if by grace, then [it] [is] no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if [it] [is] of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

JOHN 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, [but] grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

God's favor of grace:

GENESIS 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

The grace of God's gifts:

1 PETER 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Eternal life by God's grace:

1 PETER 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest [your] hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, [as] in your ignorance.

DISPENSATION OF GRACE

God's turned to the Gentiles with the Dispensation of Grace:

The word "grace" is used 119 times in the New Testament. Of these, the Apostle Paul uses the word 92 times. Paul uses the word "grace" in his greeting and farewell salutations where a doctrinal definition of the word is not clearly conveyed. In other cases, his use of the word gives us a clear understanding of the strong and rich doctrine contained therein. Paul was the Apostle to the Gentiles, and the word "grace" is directly connected to Christ's revelation to Paul of the gospel of grace for the Gentiles. The Jewish believers continued to keep the Mosaic Law and circumcision as approved by the Apostles to the Jews. However, the incarnate Christ instructed Paul to go to the Gentiles with the gospel and remove from them the requirement of keeping the Mosaic Law and circumcision. This removal or relaxation of the requirements was described by Paul as "grace." Paul uses the word "work" to mean "works of the law" or keeping the Mosaic Law. Therefore, we must give careful consideration to the definition of "grace" as used by Paul. A few typical verses written by Paul can give us a very clear understand of the primary definition of "grace" in the New Testament.

ROMANS 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

ROMANS 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

ROMANS 11:5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then [it] [is] no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if [it] [is] of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

EPHESIANS 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in the heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it] [is] the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

EPHESIANS 3:2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, 7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. 8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly [places], 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

John Calvin taught that he and his followers were the only people on Earth whom God "elected" to be saved by grace but God condemned everyone else to an eternity in Hell. This certainly doesn't sound like a Savior "full of grace and truth." This Calvinist false doctrine is the epitome of pride and arrogance.

JOHN 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, `He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.' " 16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, [but] grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

The phrase "unmerited favor" is used by most pastors and Bible teachers as the definition of grace. This definition focuses on the receiver of the favor, not the giver, but John 1:14-17 above focuses on Jesus Christ, the giver of the favor. Jesus gave His life as a ransom for the sins of the whole world without any remuneration. The true definition of grace in these verses mean "unrewarded payment." Jesus paid the price for our sins by giving of His life without receiving any reward Himself. Jesus gave His life by grace.

The meaning of grace in the Bible is not " unmerited favor." The word "grace" was also used by the Apostle Paul in describing the gospel as man's justification by faith apart from the law (Ten Commandments) and circumcision. We are not under the condemnation of the Ten Commandments and are not required to perform the Jewish custom of circumcision in the present Dispensation of Grace. In these verses the focus of grace is on the receiver of the gift in that he is not required to perform any works as payment for salvation. You cannot earn salvation or be justified before God by your good works, deeds or efforts. We are saved by faith alone.

ROMANS 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

ROMANS 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

The Seven Dispensations

GOD'S GRACE IS THE SOURCE OF MANY THINGS

Salvation is by God's grace:

ACTS 15:11 "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they."

Call of God for service is by grace:

GALATIANS 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called [me] through His grace.

God's salvation by faith through grace:

ACTS 18:27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

Justification is by God's grace without works:

ROMANS 3:19-28 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25 whom God set forth [as] a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Forgiveness is by God's grace without works:

EPHESIANS 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Consolation is by God's grace:

2 THESSALONIANS 2:16-17 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given [us] everlasting consolation and good hope by grace,
17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

GOD'S GRACE IS WONDERFUL

Grace is all abundant:

ROMANS 5:15-21 But the free gift [is] not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
16 And the gift [is] not like [that] [which] [came] through the one who sinned. For the judgment [which] [came] from one [offense] [resulted] in condemnation, but the free gift [which] [came] from many offenses [resulted] in justification.
17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
18 Therefore, as through one man's offense [judgment] came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act [the] [free] [gift] [came] to all men, resulting in justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Grace is all sufficient:

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Grace is glorious:

EPHESIANS 1:6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.

Grace is great:

ACTS 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Grace is manifold gifts:

1 PETER 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Grace is rich:

EPHESIANS 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).

Grace is Jesus' unrewarded payment for our sins:

1 TIMOTHY 1:12-16 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting [me] into the ministry,
13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
15 This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

GOD'S GRACE TO BELIEVERS

Believers are under grace:

ROMANS 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Believers receive grace:

JOHN 1:16-17 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given through Moses, [but] grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Believers stand in God's grace:

ROMANS 5:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Believers abound in God's grace:

2 CORINTHIANS 9:8 And God [is] able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may have an abundance for every good work.

Believers are to be strong in God's grace:

2 TIMOTHY 2:1-2 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Believers are to grow in God's grace:

2 PETER 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him [be] the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Believers are to speak with grace:

EPHESIANS 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Believers are to inherit grace:

1 PETER 3:7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with [them] with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as [being] heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

DANGERS OF USING GOD'S GRACE INCORRECTLY

Grace can be abused:

JUDE 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace can be frustrated:

GALATIANS 2:21 "I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness [comes] through the law, then Christ died in vain."

Grace can be turned away from:

GALATIANS 5:3-4 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who [attempt] [to] be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

God sees your heart and hears your prayer. Your sins are forgiven when you believe in faith. No works! No doing! No one else! No judge! God judges the heart. You can trust Him.

MERCY

DESCRIPTIONS OF GOD'S MERCY

God's mercy is great:

ISAIAH 54:7 "For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you.

God's mercy is sure:

ISAIAH 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you-- The sure mercies of David.

God's mercy is abundant:

1 PETER 1:3-5 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

God's mercy is tender:

PSALMS 25:6-7 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they [are] from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O Lord.

God's mercy is new every morning:

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23 [Through] the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.
23 [They] [are] new every morning; Great [is] Your faithfulness.

THE MERCY OF GOD IS SEEN IN MANY WAYS

Mercy is seen in regeneration:

1 PETER 1:3-5 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Mercy is seen in salvation:

TITUS 3:4-7 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Mercy is seen in Christ's mission:

LUKE 1:72-79 To perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant,
73 The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:
74 To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
76 "And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins,
78 Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;
79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

Mercy is seen in forgiveness:

PSALMS 51:1-2 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.

THE MERCY OF GOD IS SEEN IN
CHRISTIAN LIVES

Mercy is received in salvation:

1 CORINTHIANS 7:25 Now concerning virgins: I have no commandment from the Lord; yet I give judgment as one whom the Lord in His mercy [has] [made] trustworthy.

Mercy is taught as a principle of life:

MATTHEW 5:7 Blessed [are] the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

Mercy is practiced as a gift:

ROMANS 12:8 He who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Mercy is evidenced in God's provinces:

PHILIPPIANS 2:27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Mercy is obtained in prayer:

HEBREWS 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Mercy is the reason for consecration:

ROMANS 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which] [is] your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Mercy is the reason for hope:

JUDE 20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Mercy can be obtained:

COLOSSIANS 3:12-13 Therefore, as [the] elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also [must] [do].

EXAMPLES OF MERCY

Mercy of David to Saul:

1 SAMUEL 24:10-19 "Look, this day your eyes have seen that the Lord delivered you today into my hand in the cave, and [someone] urged [me] to kill you. But [my] [eye] spared you, and I said, `I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he [is] the Lord's anointed.'
11 "Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that [there] [is] neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it.
12 "Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you.
13 "As the proverb of the ancients says, `Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.' But my hand shall not be against you.
14 "After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?
15 "Therefore let the Lord be judge, and judge between you and me, and see and plead my case, and deliver me out of your hand."
16 So it was, when David had finished speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, "[Is] this your voice, my son David?" And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.
17 Then he said to David: "You [are] more righteous than I; for you have rewarded me with good, whereas I have rewarded you with evil.
18 "And you have shown this day how you have dealt well with me; for when the Lord delivered me into your hand, you did not kill me.
19 "For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him get away safely? Therefore may the Lord reward you with good for what you have done to me this day.

Mercy of Christ to sinners:

MATTHEW 9:13 "But go and learn what [this] means: `I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

SEEK MERCY

Believers should seek God's mercy:

2 SAMUEL 24:14 And David said to Gad, "I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies [are] great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man."

Believers should look for God's mercy:

JUDE 20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

God sees your heart and hears your prayer. Your sins are forgiven when you believe in faith. No works! No doing! No one else! No judge! God judges the heart. You can trust Him.

WRATH

DESCRIPTIONS OF GOD'S WRATH

God's wrath is anger:

NUMBERS 32:10-13 "So the Lord's anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying,
11 `Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham,
12 `except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the Lord.'
13 "So the Lord's anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.

God's wrath is prolonged:

PSALMS 90:5-9 You carry them away [like] a flood; [They] [are] like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass [which] grows up:
6 In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.
7 For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified.
8 You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret [sins] in the light of Your countenance.
9 For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.

God's wrath is great:

ZECHARIAH 7:11-14 "But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear.
12 "Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts.
13 "Therefore it happened, [that] just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen," says the Lord of hosts.
14 "But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate."

God's wrath is revealed:

ROMANS 1:18-19 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown [it] to them.

God's wrath is stored up:

ROMANS 2:4-10 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath,
9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

God's wrath is abiding:

JOHN 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

GOD'S WRATH IS CAUSED BY DISOBEDIENCE

God's wrath is caused by apostasy:

2 CHRONICLES 34:24-25 "Thus says the Lord: `Behold, I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah,
25 `because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands. Therefore My wrath will be poured out on this place, and not be quenched.' "

God's wrath is caused by man's sin:

ROMANS 1:24-32 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature (earth and animals) rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature (lesbians).
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men (homos) committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due (AIDS).
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient of parents,
31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;
32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

God's wrath is caused by sympathy with evil:

LEVITICUS 10:1-6 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them.
2 So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.
3 And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the Lord spoke, saying: `By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I must be glorified.' " So Aaron held his peace.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, "Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp."
5 So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6 And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, "Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the Lord has kindled.

God's wrath is caused by unfaithfulness:

JOSHUA 22:20 "Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity."

God's wrath is caused by provocations:

2 KINGS 23:26-27 Nevertheless the Lord did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath, with which His anger was aroused against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him.
27 And the Lord said, "I will also remove Judah from My sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, `My name shall be there.' "

God's wrath is caused by fellowship with evil:

2 CHRONICLES 19:1-2 Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem.
2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord [is] upon you.

God's wrath is caused by mockery:

2 CHRONICLES 36:16 But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till [there] [was] no remedy.

God's wrath is caused by idolatry:

PSALMS 78:58-61 For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.
59 When God heard [this], He was furious, And greatly abhorred Israel,
60 So that He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men,
61 And delivered His strength into captivity, And His glory into the enemy's hand.

God's wrath is caused by speaking against Him:

PSALMS 78:19-22 Yes, they spoke against God: They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?"
21 Therefore the Lord heard [this] and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel,
22 Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation.

EXAMPLES OF GOD'S WRATH

God's wrath against Egypt:

EXODUS 15:1-7 Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!
2 The Lord [is] my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He [is] my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
3 The Lord [is] a man of war; The Lord [is] His name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.
5 The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone.
6 "Your right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
7 And in the greatness of Your excellence You have overthrown those who rose against You; You sent forth Your wrath; It consumed them like stubble.

God's wrath against Israel:

NUMBERS 32:9-14 "For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them.
10 "So the Lord's anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying,
11 `Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me,
12 `except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the Lord.'
13 "So the Lord's anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.
14 "And look! You have risen in your father's place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the Lord against Israel.

God's wrath against King Saul and Israel:

1 SAMUEL 28:16-20 Then Samuel said: "Why then do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy?
17 "And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.
18 "Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day.
19 "Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons [will] [be] with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines."
20 Then immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, and was dreadfully afraid because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all day or all night.

GOD'S WRATH IS COMING

God's coming wrath against Jerusalem:

LUKE 21:23-27 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
24 "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25 " And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;
26 "men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken.
27 "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

God's wrath will be accomplished:

REVELATIONS 6:15-17 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,
16 and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!
17 "For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

God's wrath to come against those who take the mark of the Antichrist:

REVELATIONS 14:9-11 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives [his] mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 "he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
11 "And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

God's wrath against unbelievers at the final judgment:

REVELATIONS 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
12 His eyes [were] like a flame of fire, and on His head [were] many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.
13 He [was] clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And He has on [His] robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

YOU CAN BE SAVED FROM GOD'S WRATH

God wants you to be saved from His wrath:

1 THESSALONIANS 5:1-10 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others [do], but let us watch and be sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and [as] a helmet the hope of salvation.
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

You can be delivered from God's wrath by Jesus Christ's resurrection:

ROMANS 5:1-21 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only [that], but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
11 And not only [that], but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--
13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
15 But the free gift [is] not like the offense.
17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
AMEN.

Two-thirds of Israel's people will die during the Tribulation, but one-third will be spared. They will be refined and call upon the Lord (Zechariah 13:8-9). There is a remnant of Jews who accept Jesus. Israel will be restored during the Great Tribulation at the end of the Dispensation of Grace. At the end of the tribulation, the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur. He will defeat Satan and the Antichrist, and He will begin a 1,000 year rule called the Millennium. At the end of the Millennium will be the Great White Throne judgment for unbelievers and they will be thrown into the Lake of Fire.

God sees your heart and hears your prayer. You will have eternal life with God when by faith you believe on Jesus Christ for salvation. No works! No doing! No one else! No judge! God judges the heart. You can trust Him.
