Come vacation with Kent and Marti Rieske to Moab, Utah, May 1999

Arches National Park
Canyonlands National Park
Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point State Park looking east toward the La Sal Mountains.
Solar evaporation "ponds" are used by Texasgulf, Inc. for potash mining.
Notice the two people on the cliff in the upper right.

Three foot diameter pothole in the red sandstone "slick rock" has wiggly wildlife.
Beyond the rock is a straight edge cliff dropping hundreds of feet.
The bushes along the river bank were brought from Italy in the early 1900's
and spread rapidly along much of the Colorado River.

Kent at Dead Horse Point State Park.
Hang gliders sail off the edge but only when there is an updraft wind
to lift them back to the top again.

The drop from the edge of the cliff is perhaps 30 stories or 400 feet.
